Context Isn't Always Your Friend

Even knowing this price is down about 57 cents from the highest it got at this particular gas station brings me no comfort.

  2. kenju-- Some perspective... Metro Chicago, a.k.a. "Chicagoland," includes northwest Indiana. In Chicago, gas has state, county and city taxes loaded up in the price, and the closer you get to Chicago, the steeper the taxes. So in Chicago today you might pay $4.25/gallon. On the same day cross the city limits into one of the suburbs, and you might pay $4.05. On that very same day then cross out of Cook County into one of the five "collar" counties (Lake, McHenry, Kane, DuPage or Will), and you might pay $3.95. Cross into Indiana and you might pay $3.65!

You wanna place any bets that the northwest Indiana gas station owners are rolling in dough?
