G P (oop)S

It would appear someone at Garmin was phoning it in, probably on the Friday before a holiday weekend ... or perhaps the Tuesday after!

Taxi Pub(lic Establishment)

One of the reasons I love living in Illinois. Don't get me wrong... there are reasons I hate living in Illinois, too.

And one more flood shot (that I discovered I had taken with my Nikon and promptly forgotten about...) Saturday morning.

In the foreground to the right is a small field behind a restaurant. Beyond the little strip of green poking through just beyond the field is Tonne Drive. By Sunday afternoon all of the flooding was gone in the northwest suburbs.

Overnight Storm

Normally, flooding like this occurs when a nearby river or stream breaches its banks and inundates the surrounding areas. This flooding — widespread throughout the Chicago northwest suburbs — occurred in low-lying areas due simply to rainfall last night ... 6.9 inches in a matter of a few hours will do that.

Later during the day I caught this car flirting with me.

Should I Have Played the Lottery Today Instead?

Below is another shot of the dispatch terminal display in my taxi.

In this dispatch order, the top line displays the address where I am supposed to pick up this person. PACE is a regional transportation service and, when their buses aren't available, PACE sends taxis to its customers and subsidizes their fares. For the fare in the display, the passenger only had to pay a little more than 1/3 the actual $14.53 fare (don't worry... PACE reimburses me the rest).

The photo below displays my taxi number.
